​â¶Ä‹â¶Ä‹â¶Ä‹â¶Ä‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹In 2007, the Ministry of Education launched the Ontario First Nation, Métis and Inuit Education Policy Framework with three main goals for all school boards to:
1. produce high levels of student achievement
2. reduce gaps in student achievement
3. produce high levels of public confidence
In order to support the framework as well as Dufferin-Peel's Catholic Board Improvement Learning Cycle, the board has implemented the following:

The Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board is providing an opportunity for students to self-identify their First Nation, Métis and/or Inuit ancestry in a voluntary and confidential manner. Indigenous Education Council
Dufferin-Peel has an Indigenous Education Council (IEC) that meets on a regular basis to offer parent and community input on the Board Action Plan for Indigenous Education, in addition to providing an advocacy role for parents and the community. Dufferin-Peel is proud to offer an innovative land-based leadership program centered around Indigenous Knowledge systems. This program provides students with the opportunity to learn alongside Indigenous Elders and cultural teachers while being out on the land learning through an interdisciplinary model.
