English as a Second Language (ESL)
This program is a communicative approach to English as a second language learning, providing learners with an understanding, not only of the language, but also the Canadian culture. The instruction is based on a thematic and communicative approach to developing language used in daily life and job related situations. Systematic approach to ongoing classroom-based language assessment is done through Portfolio Based Language Assessment (PBLA) whereby learners collect evidence of their progress and accomplishments in relation to identified learning goals. PBLA is referenced to the Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB).
​Academic and Test Preparation
The purpose of this course is to prepare learners for the IELTS (International English Language Testing System), which evaluates the English proficiency of learners whose native language is not English. Focus of this Academic Course is structure, listening comprehension, academic reading, effective paragraph and essay writing, presentation skills note taking, and test taking skills and practice.

English Language Training for Citizenship
This course is intended to help learners prepare for citizenship and learn more about Canada and Ontario as they improve their English language skills. Topics include the values, culture, rights and responsibilities of citizenship, and can also help in preparing for the Citizenship Test. The Dufferin-Peel Program offers 12 sessions with a total of 36 hours of instruction.
